Finding Top Keywords

There are dozens of tools out there to find the TOP keywords in dozens of different niches.  But what you really want are keywords that work, that are getting hits to sites.

Did you know that you can easily find these keywords?  In fact, many sites GIVE THEM AWAY!

The dating niche is huge.  There is a lot of money to be made in it.  I had a few old domains related to dating and in very good niches, so over the last 6-months I’ve been developing them (that’s why I’ve been away – Robert is just lazy).  But getting keywords is hit and miss.

So as I was researching looking for keywords, I found that many sites were just giving them away – and they don’t even know it.

First off – do you know what tag clouds are?  Yes!  Good.  No?  Well, I don’t want to explain it in too much detail, but…

WikiPedia says:

tag cloud or word cloud (or weighted list in visual design) is a visual depiction of user-generated tags, or simply the word content of a site, typically used to describe the content of web sites. Tags are usually single words and are normally listed alphabetically, and the importance of a tag is shown with font size or color. Thus, it is possible to find a tag alphabetically and by popularity. The tags are usually hyperlinks that lead to a collection of items that are associated with a tag.

So how does this help you?

Well – many sites advertise their tag clouds.  This is done for several reasons – to help visitors find popular topics and for SEO.  But this can help YOU out.

Here is a screen shot from a popular website (ranked 3 by Google PageRank):

So what this list is giving you are hot keywords that are being used to find this site.  Next step is looking into which of these keywords is driving traffic to the site.

Tag clouds are very popular and many sites make use of them.

In addition to the other tools you may have to look for hot keywords, consider using the keywords websites (blogs) are giving you.  Free of charge.
