In days of old, you would get individuals that would register thousands of domain names and run either custom software – like my old application, Turbo Traffic Engine to build “doorway” pages and blast pings. It worked. Each of those 1,000 or so sites would generate anywhere from $1.00 to $10.00 per day – multiply that by xxxx number of sites and you could make several thousand per month from Google.
But this is getting harder, if not impossible to do it. And besides, do you really want to make money this way? Your operation needs to be scalable and you have to automate as much as you possibly can.
There are apps still out there that do this, and I’m sure that there are people making tons of money by doing this.
But there is even more to be made if you do things write. We’re talking things like pay-per-click (PPC) or pay-per-view (PPV) and every derivative that exists.
There are peple making as little as a few hundred dollars per day to others that are in the mid to high 5 figures per day making 6 or even 7 digits per year PROFIT.
There is the bad side of PPC/PPV – you know, the whole rebill offers that’s been like the plague but has ceased since the FCC has gotten involved – nasty no matter what and very deceiving, but it made some people very wealthy. But like all true marketers they will find other ways to make money.
The internet is different from opening up a bricks and mortar business in that there will always be someone out there looking for something and there are very little barriers to entry – you don’t need $500,000.00 as you would need in order to start a franchise plus the ongoing costs of keeping your franchise running. A simple website, a good idea and patience in promoting your site and either getting targetted visitors through SEO or spending a little and getting visitors to your site through PPV/PPC etc.,
There are many ways to attract visitors to your site and make more money that you can with AdSense. AdSense might be great as a “side earner” earning you a few dollars per day but you can make MORE especially if you have a popular site.
Consider selling adspace on your site.
For example, consider if you have a online dating site attracting a few hundred visitors per day. Most dating sites on PPC will pay anywhere from $1.00 to as much as $5.00 PER CLICK! You potentially have advertisers paying $50 – $100 per day with no guarantees that even if they click, they will buy.
Now why not sell adspace on your site for a fraction of that per month? You get a steady stream of income, and the advertiser is still in the same boat if they had paid Google through AdWords but rather than spend $10, $20 or $50 per day they are paying that per month. The risks are still the same, perhaps a little greater – but less than a daily AdWords budget.
Think out of the box, and you’ll find many ways to monetize your website.
Though I’m busy working on several of my dating sites, hopefully I’ll get more time to spend here and present you with information on making money on the internet.
