Self Promotion - Blogging Daily

Hi,

Blogging daily is quite a task.  Especially when you are first starting out.  You need to look for interesting topics, which is a task in itself then you need to write about it.  Your post needs to be entertaining, yet informative so that your visitors keep coming back.

It is tough.  No question about it.

But the rewards are GREAT!  By blogging daily (or more) you do a couple of things:

  1. Provided you are pinging a variety of services, each post sends a “ping” to a service that your blog has been updated.  Chances are that these sites also get index more often that yours will and because they are authority sites.
  2. As you post regularly, the SE will also start visiting your site more often.  In fact, since I started this blog I’ve had dozens of various SEs hit the site on a daily basis.

Here is how it works:

Good Content > SE Visits More Often > More Listings > People Searching Find Your Site > More Traffic

As you blog regularly you will build a loyal readership - either by RSS reader or subscribers to your blog alerts.  At the same time, you increase your status and authority in the area in which you are blogging about.

Soon your visitors will start asking you questions, as they will consider you an authority.

So while blogging daily can be hard, there are a lot of topics to write about — do a little bit of research and you’ll have LOTS to write about.

Regards,

Mohamed

I have been blogging daily for about 10 days now. It’s a challenge all right. One thing that helps maintain sanity is advance posting. This is using the Wordpress feature where you enter a date that hasn’t arrived yet. Instead of showing up right away, the post is automatically published when that date arrives.

One trick here is you don’t want to ping the services at the wrong time. Unfortunately WP is set up to ping as soon as you create a post, and when the advance publish date comes up it doesn’t ping. The MaxBlog Press plugin fixes this, making it instead ping when the post is actually made public.

I wrote about this at: http://10kluke.info/blogging/ping-optimizer/

Happy blogging!
