Your article is interesting. Being on dial-up, I’d be rather miffed if 90% of blogs were videos, that, and a lot of people have strong accents or dialects that would make it difficult to understand. That, and they would devour your bandwidth.

People love my accent, but I talk so fast they can barely understand what I’m saying. I’d be worse on a vlog.

yeah, video has its place. it's great to show things that are really hard to describe with text or for entertainment. regardless of what people say, i think tv is 99.9% an entertainment medium. text is great for information. if people want information and you provide that in a video, it will drive people nuts - unless it's for the reason i stated above. i'm not going to wade through a video to get to the information i need - that's what text is for. video seems to be content provider driven most times, IMHO. I think most readership would balk at it. but what do i know.

Most video on the web is entirely forgettable. There are notable exceptions, like the Numa Numa guy, who is remarkable because he is so pathetic.

No, I am firmly on the side of minimal video blogging based on the minimal esthetics of the medium as executed.

Hi Tim,

Welcome to OIBO!

You know as Robert and I worked on this post and did research on it, that is one thing we really did overlook - with video, it's tough to skim and get the main points of the post since the main points are really spread throughout the video.

Through "regular" blogging (not old fashioned at all - teenagers are texting like mad!) you can skim the story and get what you need out of it.

Perhaps what is needed with each video that is presented are a few sentences to explain what the video is about to give the reader enough information to make an informed choice - should I watch this, or can I skip it?

Regards,

Mohamed

P.S. Visited your site - I really like the layout! Nice and bright. I love a few of your posts as well!! I'll be back!!
